Challis Idaho, a quiet historic town – no question about it…
Main street and old historic wooden buildings in Challis, the largest city in Custer County, Idaho, founded in 1878. –
Most of the city’s large buildings on its Main Street were damaged during the 1983 earthquake and rebuilt. Today this is a quiet place but full of character… and a visit to this town takes you back in time of the mining and Western history.
I got inspired by this picturesque Wild West town and I made both of these images as digital paintings.
In the Western regions of the USA, it’s not rare to see animals in the streets… and this deer was running on the main street in downtown Challis in the middle of the day – no question this is a quiet place…
… but it’s also a friendly place, not so quiet in the past… 🙂
Here is an old sign of a bar that was once neon illuminated: “Bux’s Place Bar”
